I am intrigued by this entire race (ride). I am tempted to do it, and yet, I don't know if I can ride 100 miles on gravel, and I am familiar with the area, I have done road rides around there. I think the most I have ridden on gravel was the oxbow spring classic for 35 miles.....hmmm...and yet...

I'm also considering the event. Is a route map with an elevation profile available on-line?

Just heard about the race, Feb 2, any late registration accepted, from Sioux Falls.

any place along the routes to refill bottles?

The 100 mile course will pass along the edge of the city of Preston. It will go directly through Forestville State Park and come within a mile of the town of Wykoff. All of these places have water sources available.

In addition to these places, riders will also be able to meet any outside supporters in the town of Preston. More on this later...

Here in Michigan I've done road, cycle-cross, and MTB races/events. Plus a few endurance races in MTB (50-100 mile distances) How is the terrain over all? Why type of bikes do most riders use? Is it worth the 8.5 hour car ride to the land of Almanzo?

Here in Southern Minnesota you'll find plenty of rolling hills with a big ones thrown in to wake up the legs and the lungs. I've never ridden Michigan gravel so I can't compare it there, but the atmosphere at the Almanzo is certainly worth the trip.

First of all I want to say awesome blog! I had a quick question in which I'd like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your mind before writing. I've had a
hard time clearing my thoughts in getting my
thoughts out there. I do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally wasted simply just trying to figure out
how to begin. Any suggestions or hints? Thanks!
