This is becoming a habit.

Another successful ride in the books. If I knew it was this easy, I would have been making these trips all through September and October. I guess sometimes I just don't get things as quickly as others (not a surprise to most I'm sure).

A small recap:
Our numbers were up from the four of us that originally rode out to St. Charles on the 16th so I had a good feeling about last Sunday's ride from the beginning. When we left Dunn Bros. the parking lot was slippery in spots, but it was no match for the skating rink that was the road that wraps the north side of Silver Lake. I thought for sure I was going to go down in some heap of lycra and bruises, but I managed to escape the possible humiliation.

Narrowly squeezing through the gate that blocks the trailhead at Quarry Hill Nature Center we hit the gravel and were headed east for St. Charles. Our group, now made of three 1st week veterans and two new comrades, climbed up the Silver Creek Road hill and rode the small crosswind towards the gateway to Whitewater.

The weather was beautiful and the company was great. The dogs were well behaved and the hunters were polite. We met Jim on our way back from the turn around and he rode the reverse route back to town.

All in all a great morning with great people. If you haven't come out yet, please consider this casual ride. It really is a great time. Start with hot coffee and conversation, pause for hot coffee and conversation and finish with hot coffee and conversation, throw in some bikes and a lot of gravel and you get a perfect way to start/end your week. This ride will happen again this weekend, the 30th of November. Start time is again 8am from Dunn Bros. on Elton Hills Drive. here in Rochester. Same route.

Having said that, I may not ride as I had a pretty significant run in with a rogue drawstring for the first 28 miles on Sunday. I haven't been on a bike at all this week as I can barely walk with any consistency. I guess we'll see how it goes, but for now, I think I am going to rest my bits.
